Milieux Multifandom RPG - Rules and Requests

The following lists of rules and requests are subject to change but not without notice. Any time there is an addition or alteration to this list there will be an announcement on milieux_ooc and "patch notes" will be added to the "Patch Notes" below indicating what change was made when.

Our pledge to you is that we will do our best to keep the list small. That, however, hinges on everybody following Rule #1.

Also please keep in mind that, aside from rule #1, these are not listed in order of importance.

And if you don't see it here, check the FAQ, if it's not there feel free to ask an admin or post your question in milieux_zomg

Rules (You Gotta do these)

1 - To paraphrase George Carlin: Any of the following rules can be replaced with "Don't be an asshole." Players can be assholes to their own characters, characters can be assholes to each other. Players must, however, be at the very least civil to each other.

So don't be an asshole.

2 - No Godmodding. If you would like to do something to a character/NPC, inanimate object, or building you must talk to the player that it belongs to. If the person/place/thing doesn't seem to belong to any one player, then it's probably a public NPC or space. You have permission to mod those things within reason, but if what you intend to do has serious impact please contact an admin for permission.

For instance. In town, there is a YMCA. So at the YMCA, people can mod the five male employees to sing for them, or get them towels, or peep on them in the SRF, but beating one up (or worse) should be cleared with an admin. Because it is public, you can use the pool in the YMCA without permission, you can fill it with jell-o packets without permission, but blowing it up requires you to contact an admin.

If and when you are given permission to mod a person, place, or thing in whatever capacity, please refer to rule #1.

3 - Milieux is an NC-17 community. This means two things...
A - You must be 17 (or older) to play.
B - Any and all adult material (sex, violence, yes even cursing) that is in a post should be behind an lj-cut. Both in accordance with LJ's policies as well as courtesy for those players who sometimes play from work. Any time you use an lj-cut, please include an ooc note outside of the cut indicating why you used it, so players can decide for themselves if the material is safe for their work or not.

4 - Players are expected to work issues out with each other. People don't always get along, we understand that, but we're all here to have fun. For instance, if you feel you are being modded, contact the other player and see if they wouldn't mind rewording and reposting the ping that includes the modded action before you reply to it.

5 - Taking on a teacher is a commitment to post your classes at agreed-upon intervals. Taking on a student is a commitment to participate in the classes you sign on to. Remember that this is a group effort, if you flake out on your part of the commitment, other people suffer.

6 - If, for whatever reason, you do not wish to fill out any of the following information in a new character , you must include it in an email and send it to milieux dot admin at gmail dot com with a link to the application.

Player name:

Player email:

Other characters played in Milieux:

Milieux admins will not share information you do not want to be shared, but we require you tell us basically who you are. We have to be able to keep in touch with our players. We promise we aren't just being nosy.

7 - All character journals need to have an IC "Voice Mail" type post that permits other characters to try and get in touch with them, and an "OOC" post that permits other players to get in touch with the player linked in the user info. You may find it useful to screen the posts in your OOC post, thus allowing people to privately contact you.

Requests (If You Please)

1 - To make it easy to see at a glance what's happening where, please format the subject line of your posts something like this:
Date: Location: Optional Witty Tagline

2 - If you embed an image into a post, please put it behind an LJ-cut as a courtesy to players who read from work. Any time you use an lj-cut, please include an ooc note outside of the cut indicating why you used it.

3 - Read this at least once. We don't know the guy who wrote it, but it's quite frankly brilliant. Read this too while you're at it. ((Note: strong language is used in both those posts.))

4 - Chances are that there are at least one character capable of having premonitions in the game at any time. (At launch, I can think of two off the top of my head) If you are going to have something particularly interesting happen to your character, throw out an OOC post to see if anybody is willing and able to have a premonition about it. The post doesn't have to say anything more then, "Hey, if your character has visions or premonitions and you'd like to have one, I've got something for ya. Please email me."

5 - Not everyone is going to be familiar with your character or canon. It would be helpful if you would include your character's fandom and name on your profile page. If you can also add a link to some info (wiki's fine) about your character/fandom that will help those who are looking to learn more. We all want to share our fandom love, after all.

Patch Notes
