Background
Drake is a demon, a Mercury Demon, to be exact. Mercury demons are a powerful clan of upper level demons that can fire thermal blasts that can take down lesser demons in one shot. He can also shimmer and conjure, which he pretty much solely uses to turn people into fictional characters (not a complete change, just the costume). He's very mischievous and devil-may-care, and believes in the Power of Lurve.
Drake was drawn to books when he was a wee hatchling and learned about human feelings, which intrigued him. He decided he would never harm an innocent and always found a way to get around it in any demonic assignments he received. He and Cole Turner are well acquainted -- for instance, while Cole struggled in the past to bury his human soul, Drake would poke him and tell him how wonderful having a soul was.
Not long ago, Drake made a deal with a sorcerer to turn him into a human. But there was a catch or two. First, he's only human for a year, then he dies. Second, he kept his demonic powers, but if he uses them in any offensive manner, the sorcerer gets the powers and Drake burns for all eternity in the Wastelands.
Where Canon and Character go separate ways
Drake's out to enjoy being a human while he can and to atone for any harm he did as a demon, which he's decided to do by teaching the kids at Milieux. Books opened his mind, so he wants to open theirs. His expiration date is May '09.
